Pakistan’s ace tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi received yet another acknowledgment and honour for Pakistan as the International Olympic Commission (IOC) announced to put Aisam and his Indian teammate Rohan Bopanna’s shirts in the IOC Museum in the Swiss city of Lausanne.
The peace slogan of ‘Stop War Start Tennis’ by the Indo-Pak express received huge applause from sports lovers as well as by other segments of civil society and media all over the world.
They have been wearing shirts with the ‘Stop War Start Tennis’ slogans since the
Wimbledon Championships in June and in recognition of their universal peace slogan, the World Peace and Sport organisation of Monaco has already given them the prestigious ‘Peace Image of the Year’ Award.
Aisam will be leaving for India on Wednesday (today) to participate in the ATP Championships in Chennai before going to Australia to participate in ATP Championships in Sydney.
He will then take part in 2011’s first Grand Slam Championship; the Australian Open in Melbourne.
Aisam, who is also a Goodwill Ambassador for UNDP, emphasised that the millions of flood affectees in Pakistan still need a lot of support.
